It gets the job done. Plenty of problems to work out. To make this review quick I am a engineering major so as you can guess fluid dynamics is a required corse. Examples are thorough and clear. Buy this book if you need it. F.D.M. is the designated book for this class.
I am proud to have Munson's Fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics sitting on my bookshelf. This is easily go to be one of the best books that I have ever used for a core Mechanical Engineering subject. Buy this book over any other. In addition the index is absolutely superb, if you are looking for a certain concept such as 'pressure head' you will find indexes to the content sections aswell as page numbers of the examples it is used (and explained) in. In each chapter the explanation of content is very thorough and the examples are explained in reference to the text, unlike some textbooks that skip steps or do not explain algebraic signs. It also has many sections explaining the real life relevance of the content and all the examples are very beneficial to improving your understanding.Additionally there are videos that demonstrate certain fluid concepts very clearly.
Because I ordered from Amazon, I received the book a day or two ahead of their projection (which is typical), and the book was packaged with care to preserve its new condition (which is also typical). This is exactly the text I needed (because of course, no one's going to order Fundamentals of Fluid Mech. I was also very pleased with the Free Shipping option which only adds 1 or 2 days to the delivery time at most. I plan to order some other texts from Amazon very soon, and do not mind paying the extra $4 or $5 to order DIRECTLY from Amazon, because of their reliability and quality of goods. by accident). I ordered directly from Amazon with this one, as opposed to one of Amazon's associated vendors.
Overall not a bad book to use for a topic that get real messy (especially in lab). The videos off the accompanied student site i find are very helpful but the rest of the stuff off that site i have yet to use. The material is broken down in a manageable fashion. It can get a little too mathematical sometimes with all the proofs, but overall is effective in explaining difficult concepts.
Was a lot of help getting through the class. Great book, easy to follow and a lot of good information.
